Child and Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy Statement

 

The Rotary Club of South Woodham Ferrers is dedicated to keeping abreast of the current legislation within which we, as an International service club have to work. Occasionally we have to work with children,or vulnerable people such as our SWF Swimarathon event.  We therefore have to ensure we have a policy in place for dealing with such situations.

The Rotary Club of South Woodham Ferrers Child and Vulnerable Persons Protection Policy

(Version 1 Jan 2003)

  1. The Rotary Club of South Woodham Ferrers will nominate a Club Protection Officer
  2. The Club Protection Officer is to oversee club policies and to ensure that those policies are in line with current Rotary District, National and International standards.
  3. Any member or committee organising an event where children and vulnerable people are involved should review this policy and where necessary, with the assistance of the club Protection Officer ensure that the policy fulfils the needs of the event.
  4. For the purposes of this policy, a child is someone under the age of 16. A Vulnerable person is someone who has a medical condition, such as Down`s Syndrome, blind or an elderly person.
  5. No member shall put themselves in a situation where they are alone or in a delicate situation with a child. or handicapped person. Always try to ensure another grown up and capable person is at hand.
  6.  No photographs shall be taken of any children without the express permission of either the parent or a responsible person looking after a child.

Additional Rules For The Rotary Swimarathon Event

  1. No photography is allowed in the main swimming hall other than by the official SWF Swimarathon photographer or the Official South Woodham Ferrers Newspaper photographer.
  2. Permission to take photographs of a team shall be obtained by the official photographer from the Team Captain.
  3. Only one copy of a team photograph will be kept for the purpose of providing copies to the team members.
  4. Any request for further copies of a team photograph must be processed through the Team Captain. Any photographs posted will be to the Team Captain's address
  5. The Chairman of the SWF Swimarathon event shall ensure that all photograph copies and digital records will be destroyed one month after the event.
